The JICP at a glance
Signature initiatives include the Walkable Network, which connects transport hubs, employment clusters, and community spaces through safe, vibrant, green corridors; the internationally recognised Social Employment Fund (SEF), which has empowered over 6,000 residents through community-based work and enterprise; and SUNCASA, delivering nature-based urban resilience projects such as the Jukskei River Corridor activation.
Looking ahead, Joburg Fix Squad will train residents to maintain critical infrastructure, strengthening local capacity while creating a greener, more vibrant urban core.
People and partnerships
Our unique approach
We follow a unique massive-small approach that combines big-picture thinking with highly targeted interventions. We prioritise actions that deliver measurable impact where they matter most, while maintaining a city-wide vision that connects communities, businesses, and public spaces.
Every project, every intervention, and every alliance is part of a coherent, systems-based strategy rather than a collection of ad-hoc fixes. By aligning public, private, and civic efforts along the Walkable Network, for example, the JICP maximises social, economic, and environmental impact.
